2017 GIRLS RISING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Girls Rising believes our girls need to dream big! We are offering 2 education-based scholarships to make those dreams a reality.
Milt Okun was an American arranger, record producer, conductor, singer and founder of Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company, Inc. Okun transformed the careers of a dozen or more major U.S. artists who under Okun's tutelage became some of the most successful musical acts of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. A special on PBS alludes to Okun as one of the most influential music producers in history. The Milt Okun Scholarship awards $2,500 to a female student entering her junior or senior year of high school in Spetember, 2017 who lives on Long Island and who excels in music and/or the arts.
The Sheila Primont scholarship is awarded to a female student excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Mathematics. A pre school teacher who believed in propelling girls ahead and an advocate for women's rights, Sheila strongly believed in supporting girls and creating opportunities to help them excel. This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who lives within the North Shore School District and will be entering her junior or senior year of high school in September, 2017.

*Must be present to receive scholarship in person at the Girls Rising Beachfest Kick Off Fundraiser, 9/15, Sea Cliff Firehouse, 7pm
*Female entering her junior or senior year of high school in September, 2017
*Permanent residence on Long Island
*Excellence in Music and/or Arts
Sheila Primont Scholarship Requirements
